Live a life that is filled with the Holy Spirit. Meaning: We let ourselves be controlled by the Holy Spirit. It doesn’t mean “manifested” by the spirit and it doesn’t mean: “it was less and now it’s more”.
A LIFE FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT
(1) IT’S A PASSIVE SENTENCE
The Holy Spirit  is the one who controls and takes in charge.
Read 2Peter 1:3.
“Do not be drunk”. What’s the connection here?
A bit of a background: In Ephesians, there was a god of drunk, named Dionisus. When they got drunk, they believed that they could be in one with their god.
Be careful though, as there are people who use 1Timothy 5:23 as an excuse to drink and get drunk.
Also, read Proverb 23:31-33.
Be filled: led by, controlled. We want ourselves to be led and controlled by the Holy Spirit.
(2) IMPERATIVE VERB
That means every Christian MUST BE filled with the Holy Spirit.
Learnt from the early Christians: Acts 6:3, Acts 13:52
(3) PRESENT TENSE
That means, we must be led and controlled by the Holy Spirit always!
Ephesians 5:18-21 explains the characteristics of people who are led by the Holu Spirit.
a) Admit our sins wholeheartedly
b) Let the Word of God control us!
c) We want to let go of our selfishness and pride
d) Choose to obey!
